Group Spiritual Direction Training: Beyond the Basics

This course is for the spiritual director who has already learned the basics of group spiritual direction and is seeking to develop more advanced skills in group work. 

As with the previous course in Group Direction Basics, this course will offer a mixture of multi-disciplinary content, instruction, praxis, and prayer to support the growth and development of the spiritual director. Participants will practice improvising across group direction formats and situations, deepening their understanding of how differences amongst group members can impact the dynamic, while gaining the tools needed to create accessible groups across a variety of environments.

Requirements

• Participants must have successfully completed training in spiritual direction and group direction basics. 

• Participants must be receiving spiritual direction.

Overview

• 3-session group direction advanced skills training program. Participants will:

• Attend three monthly 1.5 hour online Zoom meetings for instruction, discussion, practice, and group supervision. (Dates and times listed below)

• Read approximately 1-3 articles and/or 1-2 podcasts per month.

• Facilitate a group direction experience that meets for at least 3 sessions.

• Be in personal spiritual direction

Cost: $300

Additional Costs:

Make up sessions for missed days $100/session

Personal spiritual direction $50-$160/month

About the Facilitator

As a spiritual director, pastor, and writer, Jen Manglos delights in helping others discover their own belovedness in God. Embodiment, hospitality, and storytelling characterize her approach to spiritual direction, as well as pilgrimage, having completed the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. She has been offering spiritual direction for over 15 years, holding an MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from the Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot School of Theology, and in the last few years has moved into training and supervising directors.
