About

Many of us feel, somewhere beneath the surface, that there is a gap between the life we’re living and the life we were made for. Courage Club is a 9-month guided small-group rite-of-passage designed to help you embody that life by naming what fear has been deciding for you, attempting the things you've been circling, and becoming more fully the person God is inviting you to grow into.

This is not a course about courage in the abstract. It is structured, communal, and embodied practice of choosing the courageous thing in the presence of people on the same journey.

Courage Club may be for you if:

  • You sense a gap between who you are and who God is inviting you to become

  • You are standing at the threshold of a new chapter

  • You have desires, relationships, creative work, or callings you have stopped letting yourself reach for

  • You want to grow in courage not as performance, but as a practice of loving your neighbor, your community, and yourself more fully

The Arc:

Courage Club is structured around the anthropological stages of coming-of-age rituals - the same pattern found across cultures and centuries in every meaningful rite of passage. There is a reason these structures have endured: the body and soul need more than information to be transformed. They need to be walked through something. Your 4-person cohort will be guided through six stages over nine months: from honest naming of who we’ve been, through trials and quests, to crossing a threshold together into a new identity.

What to Expect

Cohorts meet twice monthly for 2.5 hours over nine months via Zoom (unless in person is possible based on participants’ locations). Each meeting follows a shared liturgy. Between meetings, members support one another in specific, named ways via a group chat.

An application is required. The application is not a formality; the questions are designed to be uncomfortable, and completing them honestly is already the beginning of what the club asks of you.

About the Facilitator:

Rachel is a Spiritual Director and founding member of an intentional Christian living community in Fullerton. She holds an MA in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from the Institute for Spiritual Formation at Talbot School of Theology and serves as an on-staff spiritual director at Biola University. She previously served as the Director of Stories for Yellow Co. (a startup community of entrepreneurial women doing good through their work) documenting and supporting leaders taking risks for something that matters. She began leading the first Courage Club cohort in 2025, and that experience has confirmed that courage is more fruitful in community than it ever is alone.
